“Yarava Music Group” was founded in 2001 by Mehdi Jalali, Ebrahim Alhayari and Hamedeh Zand Karimokhani with the aim of introducing different types of traditional music and promoting non-verbal or other non-verbal music. Since 2003, with the formation of the “Yarava Modern Orchestra” at the suggestion of Alireza Mashayekhi, Yarava continued its artistic activity with the aim of performing and introducing the works of modern (contemporary) music composers in Iran and the world, and through this, introducing new musicians.

Tehran International Electronic Music Festival” was founded in 2017 by Yarava Music Group just one year after the first round of the Electroacoustic Music Composition Competition “Reza Korourian Awards”, with the aim of creating a basis for technical and aesthetic subjects, as well as composing and performing electronic music through the expansion of international interactions. Achieving this goal had been started in the first year of competition by collaboration with the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media.

The Electroacoustic Composition Competition which is held annually in the memory of Iranian avant-garde composer, “Reza Korourian“ (1971-2015) is now calling for pieces for its tenth year. This annual competition invites Iranian composers of all ages, who are interested in electronic music, to participate in the competition in order to support and introduce electroacoustic music in Iran. Reza Korourian Awards is held by “Yarava Music Group” and sponsored by Korourian’s family.

The Yarava Music Group is committed to releasing the selected works of its annual Reza Korourian Competition in the form of CDs. So far, 6 CDs have been released, which in itself is a treasure trove of works by different generations of young Iranian composers active in the field of electronic and electroacoustic music.
